These pages are all about my baby brother, Tristan. I really love him a lot...and I'll tell you how we got him...
On Christmas Day 2003 Mommy took me to Nana's house. My Grams bent down and pointed to my T-Shirt. "You're not a Big Brother," she said, laughing. My Nana was right behind me. "He will be in July," she told Grams.
My baby was due on July 7, 2004. My Mommy and Daddy talked to me a lot about the baby and what it would be like when my baby got here. Then on February 11, 2004, I got to go to the Doctor's with Mommy and Daddy. They took us into a little room with a TV and the lady there put a ball on Mommy's belly. On the TV we could see a little head. My baby brother! Afterward, I went with Mommy back into the examining room and got to see Sue, our midwife. She gave me a big squeeze and told me I'd grown up into a big handsome boy. She let me help her take Mommy's blood pressure (I really liked playing with the "puffer") and I got a lollipop before I left.
Mommy was sick a lot while my baby was in there. She was sleepy too. We used to cuddle in her recliner and watch Blues Clues and Tellitubbies together. When I would lay in Mommy's lap I would feel my brother bump me...and I would bump him back. Every night before I went to bed I always remembered to say, "Night Baby!" In the morning I would get my little piano and sit it on Mommy's tummy and play by brother a song. Mommy and Daddy told me everyday that the baby would come home to live with us soon and I would get to be a big brother. I was very excited. I even helped Mommy and Daddy pick out my brother's bed set...I LOVE POOH! Mommy also let me help her wash all the baby's clothes, telling me how when I was a baby I had wore those same clothes.
It took a long time for my baby to get here. My Mommy usually took me with her to the Doctor's office...I really liked to see Sue. She spoiledd me. On July 6, 2004, my Mommy took me to Nana's house and told me she had to go see Sue and that I needed to stay with Nanny this time. Mommy looked upset. When Mommy came back she grabbed me up into her lap and kissed all over my face. She told me that she had to go get my Daddy and that they had to go to the Doctor's to get my baby. My baby was SICK! I cried too, but I was so brave, I hugged my momma hard and even remembered to tell her I loved her. Nana hugged me as we watched Mommy leave from the porch. My Mommy was crying when she left, Nana was crying, I cried too. I told Nana..."Mommy will be OK she's going to get my baby!" Around 7 pm, the phone rang. Papa answered it and gave it to Nana. "Its your Daddy, Avery," she said to me. Nana talked to Daddy for a few minutes and then she gave the phone to me. Daddy told me that Mommy was OK and that my baby brother was with them! He told me that Nana could bring me to the hospital the next day to see him.
When I got up the next morning I couldn't wait to see my Mommy and baby brother! When I got to the hospital, Nana helped me up onto the bed with Mommy and then Daddy brought over my baby. He was sleepy but Mommy let me hold him. "Avery, this is you little brother Tristan...He's going to be ours for always now," she told me. I smiled at Mommy and Tristan opened his eyes to look at me. "I love you Tristan!," I told him.
